The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkana, has reiterated commitments towards enforcing recent order given by Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle on the immediate suspension of sales of fuel in jerrycans, use of motorbike by more than two persons at a time in the state.

Briefing Journalists on the Police readiness on the restrictions order at the headquarters of the Zamfara Police Command Sunday, CP Elkana stressed that the restriction of Okada and Keke NAPEP operations from 6:00am to 8:00pm within the state capital and 6:00am to 6:00pm in the remote local government areas has nothing to do with politics.

“There is nothing like politics in the measures recently taken by the State Government on restrictions of sales of fuel beyond ten thousand naira per customer and the use of jerrycans by pedestrians as intelligent gatherings have it that, bandits and or their aids are hiding under such identities for the fuelling of their bikes used for attacks.

The Commissioner also reiterated the ban of carrying firewoods and the transportation of Livestock outside the Governor’s directive which further directed that, those (Livestock) coming to the state must undergo thorough investigation to authenticate the genuineness of ownership.

“The development will surely affect some legitimate businesses, but that was not the State Government’s intention, the target was the criminals to be discouraged in their nasty operations, and such could only be achieved through freezing some activities with a view to quickly identify them by the security personnel.

“I want to use this opportunity to inform the good people of Zamfara State that, the Police in Collaboration with other security agencies are fully ready and have since commenced action to ensure full compliance of the directives. By tomorrow Monday, we are going to constitute a Joint Task Force which will be responsible for the full enforcement of the directives.

“Let me warn everybody that, Government and the security agencies are very serious in their quest to end the lingering security challenges in the state, and therefore the need to to comply with the current decisions is very necessary. We will not tolerate an attempt by any person or group to contravene any of these measures, as we are fully committed to ensuring that full wrath of the law is applied to the offenders.

“I equally want to encourage everyone irrespective of Political affiliation to key into the ongoing crime prevention measures initiated to collectively rid the state of activities of unscrupulous elements. It is also paramount to repeat categorically that, the new security measures are not politically motivated, but the best interests of the state”, the CP has stressed.
