PR Guru, Idris Bello Bags City People Recognition Award

Foremost Nigerian Public Relations Consultant, Idris Bello of Emiralty Africa has been presented with an Award of Recognition by CITY PEOPLE MEDIA GROUP.

Bello was presented the award in a ceremony that had key players in the entertainment industry in attendance on Sunday.

He has over the years been committed to documenting, reporting and gate keeping activities in the nation’s entertainment sector, particularly Nollywood.

Bello has at different points served as Publicist to high profile actors and marketers, among which are Corporate Pictures, Adebayo Salami, Wumi Toriola, Seyi Edun, Toyin Alausa and Jide Awobona amongst others.

He is also a Production Consultant, Arts Researcher and University Lecturer.

It is highly commendable that City People Media Group honors the energetic Lead consultant of Emiralty Africa with an award of recognition for his immense contributions to the development of Nollywood.

Whitemoney wins Big Brother Naija N90m Grand Prize

Whitemoney, housemate of the just concluded television reality show, Big Brother Naija, Season 6, Shine Ya Eye edition, has emerged winner of the show.
This was announced by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the moderator of the show, during the live grand finale show on Sunday.

Whitemoney has won N90million worth of prizes, no doubt the biggest purse for a reality television show on the continent.

The breakdown of the prize include a cash prize of N30million, two bedroom flat courtesy of Revolution Plus Properties, Innoson IVM G40, Travelbeta travel package for two to Dubai including airport transfer and tours.

Also, Cash in Abeg wallet, cash prize from Patricia, a weekend of getaway to Seychelles, courtesy Diageo; Arla makers of Dano will provide cartoons of Diary products; and Pepsi supply for one year and merchandise.

Others are: packs of Munch it and merchandise; Techno products including the Techno Phantom X mobile phone; WAW detergent cartons; Hawaii soap products and other consolation prizes.
Liquorose emerged the first runner up for the season 6 edition of the reality show.

Big Brother (Biggie), the coordinator of the show, commended the resilience and commitment of the last six housemates – Pere, Emmanuel, Whitemoney, Angel, Liquorose and Cross.
Biggie described Angel as the hottest girl in the house, Cross as the life of the party.

He also described Liquorose as Dancer extraordinary, Pere as laugher turned finalist-the General, Whitemoney as the resident chef and Emmanuel as Mr Africa, Mr Ultimate Veto Power Holder.
Emmanuel, who was first evicted during the finale show, said he was ready to embrace career around modeling and fashion.

Angel, the second housemate evicted, said she would love to start mental health blog and invest in real estate.

Cross, the third to leave the house, said he would be involved in any form of entertainment and politics.

He said his favorite moments in the house were when he won the super commando challenge and when he was picked by Emmanuel as the deputy head of house which automatically saved him from being evicted.

“I want to invest in myself, to help my mum and to be the best version of myself,” he said.

Pere left the house, saying, “I’m open to Nollywood and music”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the television reality show started on July 24, a journey of 10 weeks, and 24 housemates featured on the `shine ya eye’ edition.

The housemates were: Pere; Saga; Angel; Nini; Arinola; Peace; Beatrice; Princess; Saskay; Tega; Michael; Cross; Kayvee; JMK; Whitemoney; Emmanuel; Yousef; Queen; Niyi; Liquorose; JackeyB; Jaypaul; Maria; and Sammie.
The finale show had LAYCON, ex-housemate of Season 5 edition, performed to the delight of the audience and fans of the housemates. (NAN)

BBC Hausa unveils new show programme to promote young, women rights

The BBC Hausa team has declared readiness to start its maiden social media broadcast programme tagged: “Mahangar Zamani” to tackle issues that affect youths, women and the girl-child.

This is contained in a statement by BBC Hausa team on Saturday, in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Mahangar Zamani (Contemporary periscope) is a new YouTube show from the BBC Hausa team targeted at young and female audiences.

The statement said that Mahangar Zamani, a 25-minutes weekly TV-programme would focus on trending topics that promote rights of women and young people.

“This unique programme hosted by Madina Maishanu, a multimedia journalist, who played key role in the BBC Hausa social media team, will be tailored to promote engagement of the girl-child through BBC Hausa’s digital platforms.

“Mahangar Zamani is a dream come true, because the programme will bring to the forefront opportunities to find the solutions to issues about women and youth’s fundamental rights in the society,” it said.

The statement further quoted the editor of the Hausa Service, Aliyu Tannko, saying that Mahangar Zamani programme would help to give young people and women, a voice on securing their rights in modern society.

“We want to give our audiences a fresh perspective and an opportunity to freely debate important topics,” Tanko said.

It noted that the first episode of the programme targets lecturer/student relationship in universities, while the second episode is centered on feminism.

It said that the programme would be broadcast on the BBC Hausa YouTube channel and Facebook platform, to promote people’s access to discussion about rights issues.

Kano bans films with kidnapping, phone snatching scenes

Ismail Naabba, the Executive secretary of Kano Film Censorship Board, has announced that henceforth prohibited showing or selling movies displaying kidnappings, drug addiction and snatching of GSM phones in the State.

Mr Ismail in a statement on Tuesday in Kano, explained that  “Henceforth, we will not allow films displaying Kidnappings, drug addiction and GSM phones snatching which has now taken toll on Kano residents”.

The Censorship Board boss explained that the measure was aimed at curtailing the menace and reducing the possibility of young people adopting the criminal acts. 

“Not every young man has the tenacity of understanding fictitious films’ actions. Somebody might mistake it as a reality and may go ahead to practice it, therefore, we must act now before it is too late,” he added.

He stated that if they see an Actor, they want to indulge in the acts.
