Daily Trust Newspaper reports that, Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru Maikarfi 111, the Maigari of Lokoja has prohibited all nocturnal celebrations within Lokoja town and all the nearby settlements indefinitely.

According to sources, the monarch’s decision was necessary, following the nefarious activities of hoodlums who take advantage of celebrations to commit atrocities on unsuspecting people in the state capital.

It was further occasioned by the upsurge of activities of rival cult groups and their attendant consequences on night weddings and other related ceremonies that frequent Lokoja and its environs.

The gangs’ operations within the monarchical domains of the palace, Kabawa, Karaworo and old market communities were a cause for concern to the first-class chief.

Consequently, the monarch has directed his subordinates to carry out the instructions to checkmate the increasing activities of the criminals.

The Sarkin Warkin Wasa of Lokoja, Malam Muhammadu Baba Shata, said that traditional artistes have been instructed to be law-abiding and carry out the instructions as a sacrifice for the restoration of peace in the streets of Lokoja.
