Insecurity: Zamfara distributes food packages to 200 widows

The Zamfara State Government has distributed food packages to 200 women derived from 18 communities of ‘Yandoton Daji in Tsafe local government area with aim to cushion their hardship especially caused by the lingering banditry and other heinous crimes.

Distributing the food items, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hon. Fa’ika M. Ahmad, said the gesture was meant to alleviate abject poverty among the teeming women most of whom were rendered widows.

Fa’ika, who urged the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the gesture, warned them to avoid being indulging into act of selling the packages as it was meant for good care of themselves and their helpless children.

“Zamfara State Government under the leadership of Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle would not fold arms to continue watching you and your innocent children starving, it is part of the government policy to ensure that adequate care is given for needed survival.

“You are expected to judiciously utilize all that were given to you as the State Government was committed to explore more donations from both the governments and other concern individuals with a view to make sure your lives are comfortable”, Fa’ika has assured.

Malama Delu Abubakar, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the State Government for coming to their aid and pledged to use the food as judicious as expected.

It would be recalled, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has on last Monday distributed food items and other essentials to 84 victims of recent attack in Lugga town of Maru Local government area.

While distributing the items, honourable Fa’ika Ahmad, said it was part of the state government’s continuous supports to victims of banditry and other criminal activities that had bedeviled the state for over a decade.

The items distributed to the victims who part of them were widows, orphans and households and whose property been destroyed or been stolen during the attack, were rice, beans, indomie, clothes among other materials.
