The Ijaye Ojokoro High School (IOHS), Alagbado alumni association (set of 1996), on Tuesday promised to provide free sanitary pads every month to female students of the institution.

Mr Christopher Okhumale, newly-elected President of the association, made the promise while delivering his acceptance speech, at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association in Lagos.

Okhumale explained that it is important to always give back to alma mater, adding that education remains the bedrock of any developed nation.

The president further noted that the association’s gesture of giving out sanitary towels every month to female students in the school is to contribute its quota in supporting the girl-child.

He said plans are also underway to set up an Information Communication Technology (ICT) studio in the school, adding that the world has since moved from analogue to digital, hence the need to support the students.

“We will see how we can set up this ICT in the school. We will be partnering with corporate organisations and Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs). We will also support the school with furniture,” he said.

Okhumale explained that the welfare of members of the association would also receive utmost priority of the new executives, adding that they would continue where the last executives stopped.

The president further stated that the newly-elected executive members would set up an Economic and Investment Committee, whose duties would be to advise on how to generate funds and how to support and empower members.

“In the area of empowerment, they will be looking at trainings and capacity development of members.

“They will also be looking at creating a trust fund to support members of the association and for the establishment of the trust fund, we will be opening it up with the sum of N500,000,” he said.

Okhumale assured members that the newly-inaugurated executives would work in unity and for the progress of the association. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
