Federal lawmaker to empower 7,000 constituents, graduates 160 in Kano



A member of House of Representatives, representing Wudil/Garko Constituency, Engr. Ali Wudil has targeted no fewer than 7,000 constituents for empowerment on various skill acquisition programmes and financial support.

Alhaji Mukhtar Abba, the Chairman of the empowerment committee disclosed this on Monday during the graduation of 160 beneficiaries at Wudil Local Government Area (LGA).

The empowerment committee Chairman explained that the empowerment programme was initiated through the National Productivity Center (NPC).

According to Abba, the lawmaker who is an APC member through his foundation, Engr. Ali Wudil foundation has secured appointment for about 11 youths from his Constituency.

The committee Chairman added that the empowerment programme will be a gradual process where the beneficiaries would be selected from Wudil and Garko LGAs.

He added that the foundation is also making arrangements to empower additional 4,000 youths through training and financial support of N10,000 each.

According to him, an additional 600 people who are into sand processing businesses across the Constituency would be provided with financial support. 

Abba added that 40 wheelchairs were provided by the lawmaker to be distributed to people with special needs across the two LGAs.

According to him, the beneficiaries were trained on various skill acquisition programmes, among them are those that are already into some businesses.

He explained that each of the beneficiaries would be provided with support to establish new business or boost their existing businesses.

According to him, thousands of beneficiaries are expected to benefit from such empowerment programmes which have begun and will continue gradually.

He added that such empowerment programmes were initiated by the lawmaker to assist his constituents to be self-reliant and also support others.

“I wish to inform you that thousands of youths have benefited with similar empowerment by the lawmaker across Wudil and Garko LGAs.

“We have sponsored hundreds of youths, including the girl children to study within and also outside the country from nursery, primary, secondary and also tertiary levels.

“Those beneficiaries, some of them have already graduated, while some of them are presently at various levels, including orphans.

“Following the economic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to support thousands of women and youths to reduce their hardship.” He said.

He explained that additional 200 grinding machines were provided to support women in the rural areas so that they can take care of their families.

In his remarks, the NPC representative at the event, Malam Usman Muhammad said the gesture by the lawmaker was an effort to compliment President Muhammad Buhari on his empowerment commitment.

While commending the lawmaker for supporting his constituents, Muhammad called on the beneficiaries to make proper use of the opportunity given to them.
