A Kano state gubernatorial aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura (A.A.Zaura) has declared that if presidential ticket of the ruling party is to go to South in 2023, it has to go to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the party.

With the 2023 is approaching, the southern and northern regions of the country have drawn a line, with the former clamoring for the power be shifted to it, while the later agitating for retention of the presidency.

At a media parley with some selected journalists in Kano on Tuesday, A.A. Zaura disclosed that though he would have loved the 2023 presidential ticket remain in the North, but as a patriotic citizen, he respects federal character and rotation of power across the regions.

According to A.A Zaura, if eventually the 2023 APC presidential ticket goes to South, especially to Tinubu, his preferred candidate, he would fight fiercely to ensure the former Lagos State governor become the president.

A.A Zaura, who was the governorship candidate of Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) in the 2019 Kano gubernatorial election said he would not be happy if the APC presidential ticket goes to other person than Tinubu in the South.

He added that ” If it is going to the south then it has to be bola tinubu, and there I will work, there you will see the real fight and there you will see the lion in me. There you will believe that he send me here because I will fight with all my strength for him to be; I will fight with all my kobo and dollar for him to be.

“Of course if the power will remain in the north, i will be happy. Don’t say i am selfish but i believe in federal character and rotation from south to north. All I want is to have one Nigeria that will touch every person. I am not a sectional person but everyone will love his bedroom,” he said

When asked about the rumor that he had been sent by Tinubu to contest for Kano governorship, A.A. Zaura debunked the insinuation, saying that he had a personal relationship with the APC national leader since before he became a politician.

“People have their different views. They keep digging to know my relationship with Tinubu. I have a personal relationships with Bola Tinubu, and it will not change now . He is a father to so many, not only AA Zaura because he is somebody who build people. And now that I have come to politics it will not change anything.

“I will give him the same respect and he will give me same cares. Don’t forget in 2019  he was in APC and I was in GNP, we sat together on the same table and he told me to come back to APC but I said no , if the time come i will come.

“If these speculations are true then I would have joined APC long time. But definitely wherever he is and wherever I am, we will remain together. His interest is mine. He is also the national leader of APC, and I give him that respect because I am also in the APC. And anywhere I am going, He can tell me what to do,”

A.A. Zaura, a business mogul, also declared that his chances of winning the Kano gubernatorial ticket is in the hand of God, stating that he would not engage in a do-or-die style of politics as he would be loyal to the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
