The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has emphasized the need for the Nigerian Army to continually review and adapt its strategies and tactics to combat security challenges facing the country.
General Lagbaja was Speaking at the Nigerian Army’s Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2024 lecture at Crispan Hotel on Thursday in Jos, Plateau State capital.
He reflected on the Army’s experiences in counterterrorism, counterinsurgency, and peace support operations since 2013.
The lecture, titled “Combating Complex Conflicts in Nigeria: Challenges and Strategies,” aimed to explore effective approaches to addressing the nation’s security challenges.
The Chief of Army Staff described Nigeria’s contemporary security environment as volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous (VUCA).
General Lagbaja expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and strategic guidance.
The lecture aimed to foster a productive discussion and yield workable strategies for the Nigerian Army to better manage the complex security challenges facing the nation.
Our correspondent reports that the event featured an award ceremony for the Chief of Army Staff’s Literary Competition, promoting education and intellectual development among youths.
A themed exhibition showcasing the Nigerian Army’s rich history was also on display at the venue of the event.
Participants at the occasion cut across Army officers, serving and retired, Policy makers, peace building Agency, and stakeholders.
