2027 Countdown: SDP Coalition Engages Kumo Stakeholders, Seeks United Front

From Abubakar Rabilu Gombe

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) coalition, led by Muhammad Jibrin Barde, popularly known as Dan Barde, has intensified its grassroots mobilization efforts with a strategic stakeholder engagement held in Kumo, the administrative headquarters of Akko Local Government Area in Gombe State.

The meeting, which drew community leaders, youth organizations, and women representatives, forms part of a series of statewide consultations aimed at building political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing attendees, Dan Barde the 2023 governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emphasized that the coalition is committed to creating a credible political alternative in Gombe through the SDP.

He revealed that the Kumo event is one of several engagements designed to mobilize opposition voices and reclaim public trust.

“We are engaging the grassroots because we believe leadership must be inclusive, people-centered, and visionary,” Barde said.

“Our coalition is determined to unite the opposition and offer a fresh start for the people of Gombe.”

According to him, the coalition’s strategy under the SDP is not just about winning elections but restoring faith in governance, fostering accountability, and anchoring development on equity and the shared aspirations of citizens.

Also speaking, the SDP State Chairman, Comrade Modibbo, stressed the importance of inclusive governance and called for a shift towards people-driven development in both the state and the country.

He noted that the coalition is poised to reshape the political direction of Gombe as the 2027 elections draw nearer, warning against continued tolerance of poor leadership.

Participants at the meeting welcomed the message, describing the visit as timely amid growing public discontent.

Many expressed readiness to support the coalition’s efforts in pushing for real change and better governance.
