A360 Amplify Project, Inaugurates Youth Champions in Jigawa State

In Jigawa State, the Society for Family Health (SFH) through the A360 Amplify project organized a Meaning Adolescent and Youth Engagement (MAYE) Summit, inaugurating Youth Champions as a state-based advisory committee.

The event aimed to promoting meaningful engagement between adolescents, youth, and adults, creating a platform for their voices to be heard.

Jigawa State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, urged the champions to amplify their voices, serving as bridges between youth and government.

He encouraged them to champion positive health outcomes and developmental progress for youth and adolescents, working tirelessly to promote well-being and support growth.

Ramatu Abdulkarim Iyimoga, Lead SFH A360 Nigeria Meaningful Adolescent and Youth Engagement, explained that the summit aimed to promote meaningful engagement and establish a strong youth network.

She emphasized the importance of empowering young people to take an active role in shaping their futures.

Stacy Louis, Youth Innovation Champion A360 in Jigawa State, highlighted the summit’s objectives, including inaugurating youth champions and formulating a state-based youth advisory committee.

She emphasized the need for youth-led organizations, networks, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders to come together to establish a strong youth network.

The inaugurated Youth Champions represent various organizations, including Start-up Jigawa, Turn-up Jigawa, National Association of Jigawa State Students (NAJISS), Association of Women, Youth Health Social Awareness, National Youth Council, A360 project beneficiaries, A360 young service providers, and other stakeholders.

They signed the MAYE integration charter, committing to adopt and implement the MAYE strategy, ensuring young people’s ideas, perspectives, and contributions are integral to programs and policies impacting their lives and communities.

The Youth Champions pledged to embark on MAYE activities in their respective communities, advocate for youth involvement in decision-making processes, and promote initiatives benefiting young people’s health and development.

Mr. Hassan Hashim, a Youth Champion, expressed his commitment to creating a legacy of positive impact, particularly in Information Communications Technology (ICT).

A Youth Advisory Committee was formed, comprising representatives from the A360 Amplify project, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Ministry of Information, Youth Sports and Culture, and the Special Advisor to the Jigawa State Governor on Innovation and Technology.

This committee will ensure the voices of young people are heard and their needs addressed, creating a brighter future for all.
