Kano Gov’t to Begin Renovation of Vandalized Digital Industrial Park

The Kano State Government has announced plans to commence the renovation and repair of the Digital Industrial Park (DIP), which was vandalized, and equipment looted during a nationwide protest on August 1, 2024.

PRIME TIME NEWS gathered that the initiative aims to restore the facility to its full operational potential, reinforcing the state’s commitment to a prosperous digital economy.

The announcement was made by Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf on Monday at the State Government House during a visit by the Honorable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijjani.

The Deputy Governor of the State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who received the Minister on behalf of the Governor, expressed the government’s determination to rebuild the park swiftly to meet the state’s and nation’s digital aspirations.

Addressing the recent incident, Comrade Gwarzo extended heartfelt condolences to the Ministry and condemned the attack on the DIP as a setback to Kano State’s and Nigeria’s broader digital economy objectives.

He reassured the audience that the government had mobilized security agencies and collaborated with community leaders to recover a substantial portion of the looted items.

Comrade Gwarzo Gwarzo disclosed that Governor Yusuf’s administration has instructed the Kano State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to conduct a thorough damage assessment and commence repair work without delay.

“We remain resolute in ensuring that this key asset is operational as soon as possible,” said the Deputy Governor.
