From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Local Education Authority (LEA) of Yola South Local Government Area has commended the efforts of the international non-governmental organization “Save the Children” for its contributions to the education sector in Adamawa State.

Speaking during the World Children’s Day celebration in Yola, the Education Secretary of Yola South LGA, Mallam Abba Bawuro, highlighted how the organization’s interventions have provided children with a sense of belonging.

Represented by the Head of Mobilization, Adamu Mohammad Friday, Bawuro stated that the platform created by Save the Children enables children to express their thoughts and concerns about their education and future.

Mallam Bawuro also praised the Adamawa State government for prioritizing education and urged other stakeholders to emulate such efforts to secure the future of the next generation.

In her remarks, Aisha Umar, Speaker of the Adamawa State Children’s Parliament and a pupil of Wuro-Jabbe Primary School, called on governments and stakeholders to intensify efforts in prioritizing education.

She emphasized that education is the most powerful tool for securing a brighter future and preventing children from engaging in negative behaviors.

“The theme for this year’s commemoration, ‘Listening to the Future,’ is a call to parents and stakeholders to double their investment in children’s education,” Umar said.

She expressed appreciation to the state government and its partners for their continued efforts in reducing the number of out-of-school children in the state while equally advocating for the protection of children’s rights to ensure their success in life.

Mohammed Grema, the Head Teacher of Wuro-Jabbe Primary School, thanked Save the Children for choosing the school to host the event, describing it as an honor.

Community leader Alhaji Bashiru Adamu also expressed his gratitude, noting the positive changes witnessed in the school through Save the Children’s impact.

He encouraged pupils to remain active and committed to learning as a pathway to success.
