The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, has underscored the importance of visionary leadership as a key driver of success, emphasizing discipline and teamwork as vital elements in achieving institutional excellence.
He made this known while delivering a lecture titled “From Vision to Reality: Strategic Leadership Insights from the CAS Command Philosophy” at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna.
This was contained in a statement signed by the College Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya, and made available to newsmen.
According to the statement, Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted that effective leadership goes beyond the exercise of authority, stressing that it rests on influence, integrity, and the ability to inspire subordinates towards collective excellence. He urged officers to embrace innovation, discipline, and teamwork in the discharge of their duties, noting that true leadership involves guiding others to identify opportunities even in the face of challenges.
The lecture featured an engaging interactive session during which the CAS responded to thought-provoking questions from students on leadership, command philosophy, and inter-service cooperation.
In his welcome address, the Commandant of the AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Idris Alhaji, expressed appreciation to the CAS for his insightful presentation and responses. He described the lecture as both inspiring and timely, adding that the message reinforced the essence of leadership development at the College. He further urged students to apply the lessons learned to enhance their professional conduct and service delivery.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Air Officer Commanding, Air Training Command; Commandants of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Air Force Institute of Technology, Warrant Officers’ Academy, and Military Training Centre; the Deputy Commandant AFCSC, Rear Admiral A.C. Uko; as well as Directors, Chief Instructors, and Members of the Directing and Administrative Staff.
Beneficiaries of the lecture were students of Senior Course 47 and Junior Course 100 of the AFCSC, Jaji, Kaduna.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of a souvenir to the Guest Lecturer by the Commandant, a vote of thanks by Lieutenant Commander S.O. Emiola, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
