A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kano State,Dr Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu about his reported meeting with the National leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP),Dr Rabi’u Kwankwaso, ahead of a possible merger between the APC and the NNPP.
Iliyasu sounded the caution in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano on Monday.
This followed media reports of a meeting between President Tinubu and Kwankwaso on alleged moves to collapse NNPP into the APC in return for a Ministerial position for the NNPP leader.
The reports also suggested that Kwankwaso had agreed to go into merger with APC for a Ministerial position for him and other positions for his supporters in the Government of President Tinubu.
Iliyasu, a former Commissioner in the administration of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,the incumbent APC national Chairman, confirmed that the meeting had held between Tinubu and Kwankwaso,but advised that the deal be done “with utmost care and caution.”
“The President will do good if in all the talks he is going to have with Kwankwaso he includes Kano APC leaders including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, House Reps Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Chairman House Committee on Appropriation Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, State Housing Minister Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, the Kano State APC State Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, other elected officials and above all, the APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,” he said.
He alleged that Kwankwaso and the NNPP are loosing supporters,hence his decision to join the ruling party,the APC.
The APC chieftain said President Tinubu as a professional and sound politician, understands Kwankwaso’s predicament and would do the needful in his dealing with him.
