Hajiya Amina Usman Danbatta, former Managing Director of MTN for the Northern region, was honored by the MTN Customer Acquisition Partners of Northern Nigeria at Bristol Palace, Kano, over the weekend. With more than 21 years of dedicated service, she retired from her position on October 31, 2023.

Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Sarari, the chairman of Sarari Clasiq, revealed that the recognition was bestowed upon her for her outstanding efforts in securing job appointments for Northerners, particularly providing over 20,000 job opportunities for Northern youths. Dr. Sarari himself acknowledged receiving 2,700 job slots through her generosity.

“Hajiya Amina has been instrumental in supporting the Northern youth, securing over 20,000 jobs. She is a role model, embodying the virtues of her father, Alhaji Magaji Dambatta – forbearance, kindness, and trustworthiness,” stated Dr. Sarari.

Born in the UK in the early ’70s, Amina commenced her education in Washington DC and pursued a BSC in Economics at BUK, followed by an MBA in various institutions. Starting her career in the banking industry after serving in the CBN, she later joined MTN Nigeria in 2002 as the pioneer Nigerian Service Center Manager.

Under her leadership, Amina progressed to become the first Regional Operations Manager, establishing service centers in Kaduna, Kano, and B2Bs in Sokoto and Jos. Promoted to GM Northern Operations in 2017, she oversaw the operations of the entire region.

Amina received training both locally and internationally from institutions such as Lagos Business School, Chartered Institute of Bankers, Phillips Consulting, Wharton University (US), Cranfield University (UK), and INSEAD Singapore.

Expressing gratitude for the program organized in her honor, Amina attributed her success to dedication and hard work. She encouraged others to focus on their jobs, work diligently, and exercise patience for success.

The event, organized by members of CAP Northern region, was attended by the Managing Director of MTN for the Northern region, Hamza Ibrahim, as well as the family and relatives of Hajiya Amina Dambatta.
