Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje has declared that any other state congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, not the one being held at Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday in the state is illegal.

There are rumours making the rounds that a faction of the APC, led by former governor and serving senator, Ibrahim Shekarau, is holding parallel congress somewhere else in the state.

Speaking at the venue of the congress on Saturday, Mr Ganduje said “some disgruntled elements may hold another congress somewhere else.”

He added that “as far as APC is concerned, the Congress being held today, at this venue is the recognised by the national body.

” The information we have is that the only APC Congress is the one taking 0lace now, at this venue. This venue is the 0lave where APC Congress is holding,” said Mr Ganduje.

He urged the part members to be of good conduct and ensure a hitch-free exercise.

Our reporter observed that the voting exercise had started at about 10:30am, commencing with Dawakin Tofa Local Government area where Mr Ganduje hailed from.

From all indication, Mr Abbas would emerge as winner of the congress because he was a consensus candidate.
