One of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party chairmen in Ogun State is seeking the removal of the Executive Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun and other state governors from the leadership structure of the party.

The party chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Tunji Fagbenro made this known while discussing the mode of party primaries for the forthcoming 2023 elections.

The state governors who had always been leaders of the party with huge responsibilities in the time past will now be relegated to the back seat and the power will have to shift to the party executives, Fagbenro opined.

“In as much I agreed with direct primary, don’t we foresee third hand in it, until we take away the leadership of party away from our governors, because the problem is holding art of governance in one hand and party in another, party should act as check and balance, party should be supreme”, he said.

Reactions has trailed his comment while speaking with the elders and leaders of the party as being planted in the Dapo Camp following the trends of the Abeokuta politics.

However, Fagbenro had benefited greatly from the kind gesture of Prince Dapo Abiodun from time memorial as he used to be the deputy party chairman and now the substantive chairman of the party at the Abeokuta South part of the state.
