No fewer than 74 students Federal University Dutse (FUD) have successfully graduated with first-class division from the 2019/2020 and 2020/2024 academic session.
This was announced by the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad while addressing news men during the pre-convocation press briefing held on Thursday at Senate chamber.
Professor Mohammed also stated that, during the convocation, His majesty, King W.S. Joshua, Igbugburu x, (CON), JP, the Ebenanawei of Bomo Kingdom and the pioneer chairman of Bayelsa state traditional council as 2nd Chancellor of the University.
He explained that, the 6th and 7th combined convocation comprised a total of 2,872 graduands from the faculties of Agriculture, Art and Social sciences, computing, and the faculty of sciences. Other are two Ph.D, 47 M.Sc, 376 Masters and 189 post graduate diploma graduands.
According to him, the combined convocation ceremony will commence with investiture of the Chancellor who will preside over the award of degrees, post graduate diploma and prizes to all graduands and those that have won the prizes.
Professor Abdulkarim added that, other activities for the ceremony include commissioning of some completed projects by the University at Rasheed Shekoni teaching hospital by the coordinating Minister of health and social welfare, professor Muhammad Ali Pate on Friday.
He identified some of his achievement in the University as completion of N1.2 billion internet broadband by the ministry of communication and digital economy, among many other achievement in the sector.
While on Academic, research and innovation the University recorded remarkable achievement as NUC ranked FUD overall best federal University in North-west geopolitical zone in 2021, 1st in Nigeria for quality of researchers and research innovation by Scimago, academic ranking in 2021.
