Au Revoir, Dr. Nasir Ibrahim Dantiye, ‘Mai Lafiya’

By Abdu Labaran Malumfashi.

Dr. (PhD) Nasir Ibrahim Dantiye has passed on to the next but final world with his perpetually ‘smiling face’, at the age of 76, after a brief illness, leaving behind a wife, three (3) children and many siblings among whom is my second wife, Safiya Ibrahim Dantiye of the ‘FRAGMENTS’ fame with the Abuja-based Daily Trust, where she had worked as a Women Editor.

Even more popular is one of the brothers of the deceased, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye, a two-time President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), and the immediate past Kano State Commissioner of Information. No less known is the Abuja-based Alhaji Magaji Ibrahim Dantiye, who had worked with the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), and his younger brother, Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim Dantiye, a banker.

THE deceased was a quiet man, even though he hailed from a ‘Chattering Class’ family, with his long ago dead father as an Editor of a vernacular newspaper, and two younger siblings (one from each gender) famous news persons.

DR. Nasir was a renowned scholar, historian and educationist, who had taught in many higher institutions, including the College of Advanced Studies, Kano, School of Management Studies, Kano, Kano State Polytechnic, and the National Examinations Council (NECO).

HE was, before his death TODAY (Wednesday 8th October), a lecturer in the Department of History at the North West (formerly Bello Maitama) University, Kano

May God admit Dr. Nasir Ibrahim Dantiye to Aljannat Firdaus, and give his immediate and remote families, as well as friends and associates, the strength and courage to bear the irreplaceable loss.

Abdu Labaran Malumfashi wrote from Katsina.
