Boosting Education: Yobe Govt Launches Enrollment Campaign

From Auwal Salim, Yobe

The Yobe State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a conducive environment for learning, as the Nguru Local Education Authority flags off the 2024-2025 education enrollment drive campaign in Hausari Community, Nguru Town.

The annual event, sponsored by the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board in collaboration with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), drew a large crowd of critical stakeholders, including the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), School-Based Management Committee (SBMC), and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

In his remarks, Alhaji Hamisu Ado, Education Secretary, Nguru Local Education Authority, appealed to parents and guardians to enroll their wards in formal and non-formal schools, emphasizing the importance of education as a fundamental human right recognized globally.

Ado commended the Yobe State Government for its efforts in improving the teaching and learning environment at all levels, from primary to tertiary education.

He urged parents and guardians to support government policies aimed at eradicating poverty through the provision of sound and quality education.

Mallam Garba Umar, representative from UNICEF, praised the Yobe state government for its commitment to education, stressing that education is a business that requires the collective effort of all, regardless of tribe, religion, or ethnic affiliation.

The event, which was held in Ajiyari Community last year, is expected to be held in another community next year, following the tradition of rotating the event among communities.

The Yobe State Government’s efforts to improve education are aimed at providing a conducive environment for learning, eradicating poverty, and promoting quality education at all levels.
