Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir as the new emir of Gaya emirate.
Addressing reporters at the wee hours of Sunday, the Secretary to Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji said that the appointment followed the recommendations of the kingmakers after providing the names of three candidates.
Usman Alhaji said ” by the power conferred on the Governor of Kano state by Kano Emirates Law 2020 (as amended) approved the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir as emir of Gaya”.
The new emir succeeded his late father Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir who died on Wednesday at 91 .
Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir was the Chiroman Gaya before his appointment as emir of Gaya.
Governor Ganduje congratulated the new emir and wished him success over the appointment.
Gaya emirate is one of the Emirates created by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in 2020.
