BREAKING: Ganduje presents N196.5b, 2022 budget before State Assembly

The Kano state governor Abdullahi Ganduje has presented a total of N196,353,469,505:00 as the 2022 budget before the Kano State House of Assembly.

Making the presentation at the Assembly on Thursday, Ganduje described the budget as “Budget for Consolidation and Prosperity” which he said will consolidate the needs of the public and the agenda of the government.

A total of N107.9 billion representing 55% of the total budget is allocated as capital project while N88.5 representing 45% of the total budget is allocated as recurrent expenditure.

The education sector gets the highest allocation with 26% of the total budget, with the total sum of N51.7 billion while health sector gets 15% as agreed in the Abuja declaration of resuscitating the health sector in Nigeria in which N15 billion is allocated representing 15% of the state budget allocation.

More so, infrastructure is allocated the sum of N36 billion while agriculture gets N5.7 billion.

Giving a breakdown of what was achieved in the 2021 budget Ganduje stated that a total of N197.94b was approved as the 2021 budget from which N83.4 was for recurrent expenditure and N114.4 for capital expenditure.

In all the budget, 77% performance was made with 35% for the recurrent expenditure whose 48% performance was achieved for the capital expenditure.

“The need for infrastructure cannot be overemphasized. In this regard, the government has been able to complete Bichi, Karaye and Rano Emirates township roads construction were completed.

“The independent power supply project has reached 98% completion while work is continuing.

“Also, the government has completed the state’s Dangote Skills Acquisition Center all of which was inherited from the past regime” the governor declared.

Receiving the budget, the Speaker of the Assembly, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, praised Ganduje for his efforts of transforming the state into a mega city, while he called on revenue generating sectors to live up to their expectations to meet up with the revenue generation.
