CITAD Academy trains 40 RAAMP staff in ICT utilization

The CITAD Academy Kano has finished a week-long training program for 40 staff members of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in Kaduna state.

Mr. Ahmad Abdullahi Yakasai, head of CITAD Academy’s training unit, explained that the training’s goal was to boost participants’ skills and raise awareness about the advantages of utilizing ICT in administration. Additionally, it aimed to familiarize them with efficient methods for planning, implementing, and overseeing ICT initiatives in their areas of expertise.

He reiterated the widely accepted global belief that ICTs are essential tools for development processes.

According to Mr. Yakasai, the rising use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in government operations, along with the growing amount of paperwork and communication that administrators deal with, has made ICT skills crucial.

“Students can leverage ICT to enrich their learning experiences, while teachers can utilize it to support their instructional methods. Additionally, administrators can employ ICT for daily operations and efficient management of educational institutions.”

He also noted that CITAD Academy has created a rapid-track program that demands minimal time from participants, and it has undergone rigorous testing.

“CITAD Academy sees this as a chance to enhance ICT capacity among administrators and department heads. It’s crucial for employees in government agencies, particularly administrative personnel, to become adept at utilizing ICT tools within their offices to benefit both staff and stakeholders,” said Mr. Yakasai.

During his speech, Engr. Nyinis N. Yero, the Secretary of RAAMP Kaduna state, highlighted the significance of ICT, underlining its crucial role in the project’s success and its integration into the project’s work plan.

He also foresaw a shift towards online interactions in offices in the near future, emphasizing the importance of embracing ICT to stay ahead.

The Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) is a third-generation initiative focusing on enhancing the institutional and financial framework for sustainable management of state and rural networks.

RAAMP receives funding from the Nigerian Federal Government, administered by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), in collaboration with the International Development Association (IDA), a branch of the World Bank.
