CITAD Coordinator, Hamza Aminu Fagge, Elected NAB Kano Youth Leader

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has proudly celebrated the election of its Coordinator for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Hamza Aminu Fagge, who on Saturday emerged as the Youth Leader of the Nigerian Association of the Blind (NAB), Kano State Chapter.

Fagge secured a decisive victory with 64 out of 71 votes, a development CITAD described as a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in his leadership by the visually impaired community.

His election, the organisation noted, is both a personal achievement and recognition of his consistent efforts in championing inclusivity, amplifying the voices of persons with disabilities, and advancing youth advocacy.

The Executive Director of CITAD, Y. Z. Ya’u, in a statement congratulated Fagge on the victory, assuring him of the organisation’s full support as he takes on the new responsibility. “We believe he will discharge his duties with excellence and leave behind enduring legacies,” Ya’u said.

CITAD also commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of the NAB Kano election, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to emulate such practices as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

For years, CITAD has worked to empower PWDs through technology, advocacy, and capacity building, including establishing digital skills hubs, producing Braille materials, and advocating for assistive technology policies.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with NAB and other stakeholders to promote the rights, dignity, and empowerment of persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
