From Auwal Salim, Yobe
In a bid to enhance the standard of education, particularly at the basic level, in Yobe State, the office of the Acting Education Secretary, Mallam Hamisu Ado, in collaboration with key stakeholders, has embarked on a community sensitization campaign.
The initiative aims to engage stakeholders on how to contribute to promoting education in their communities.
The campaign has yielded positive results, as evident in a recent thank-you visit by the Head of Dagirari Community, Alhaji Maigari, and his entourage to the Nguru LGEA secretariat.
Alhaji Maigari expressed gratitude to the Acting Education Secretary and his team for the impact of their sensitization efforts.
He revealed that after the team’s visit to their community, they began to understand the importance of sending their children to formal schools.
“We noticed a change in our children’s behavior, including their hairstyles and immoral acts, and we realized the need for formal education,” he said.
Alhaji Maigari also commended the Acting Education Secretary for organizing a training workshop on School-Based Management Committees (SBMC), which he and six other community members representing nine school communities attended.
“The training broadened our horizons, and we are grateful to UNICEF, our development partner, for supporting the initiative,” he added.
