Diphtheria vaccines : MSF appeal to Gov Namadi for faster clearance from NAFDAC

The team of Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF), popularly known as Doctors without borders,  appealed to Jigawa state governor Malam Umar Namadi to intervene and ensure faster clearance and release of diphtheria vaccines by NAFDAC for the state.

The call was made by the MSF country Director  Dr Famela Oko, when the team of MSF paid an advocacy visit to the governor on Tuesday at government house Dutse.

She explained that, the purposes of the visit is to forward formal invitation to governor for four days discussion with stakeholders on their activities at their centre located in Jahun general hospital Jigawa state.

Dr Oko, who commended the state government for supporting the centre through ministry of health, urged governor Namadi to help them with follow up to NAFDAC for faster clearance of diphtheria vaccines.

The country director, also appealed to governor Namadi to support the hospital with more specialist doctors and also to address issues related to shortages of drugs.

While responding to the visitors,  governor Namadi appreciated the commtiment of MSF towards serving the people in the state.

The governor said, his administration is committed towards improving the lives of Jigawa citizens by giving more priorities to health sector.

He then commended MSF for choosing Jigawa state to be their centre in Africa, assured to do all what he can do to address their challenges.
