E-Birth Registration Project Flag-Off in Katsina State

The digital era of identity documentation has officially begun in Katsina State as the Electronic Birth Registration (e-Birth Registration) Project was formally flagged off in a grand ceremony attended by key stakeholders and partners yesterday October 31, 2025.

The event, jointly organized by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), the National Population Commission (NPC), the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and UNICEF, marks another milestone in the nationwide rollout of the e-Birth Registration initiative aimed at ensuring that every child is counted, every birth is registered, and every certificate is issued promptly.

The flag-off event saw dignitaries, state officials, and representatives from partner organizations reaffirm their commitment to improving civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) through technology. Highlighting the significance of the project, speakers emphasized that birth registration is not just a formality—it is a fundamental right of every child, providing access to education, healthcare, and national identity.

During the ceremony, symbolic presentation of birth certificates was carried out, showcasing the seamless and efficient digital process now available to parents across the state. The gesture underscored the importance of early registration and the role of local governments in achieving universal coverage.

The e-Birth Registration system leverages mobile technology and digital tools to make registration faster, more accurate, and accessible even in the most remote communities. Through this collaboration, the government and its partners are strengthening Nigeria’s drive toward inclusive development and digital transformation.

With Katsina now on board, the e-Birth Registration campaign continues to spread across Nigeria, ensuring that no child is left unregistered and that every name counts.
