Emir of Dutse urges CBN to engage traditional leaders for successful Digital Financial inclusion

His royal highness the emir of Dutse Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi has called on Central Bank of Nigeria CBN to engage traditional leaders in the process of registering new bank users in Jigawa state.

The Emir who was represented by the district head of Chamo Alhaji Salihi Sambo during the opening ceremony of ‘financial inclusion week’ held at Dutse the state capital, said this will faster the digital financial inclusion.

The called was made after the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN described Jigawa state among the lower state with bank account users particularly among the women and youths.

While speaking at the ceremony, the CBN the head of financial develooment Dutse branch Audu Amadu explained that, the financial inclusion in the state is between 10 and 15 per cent, hence its selection as of the targeted states for the exercise for this year.

“Financial inclusion of the state is between 10 and 15 per cent and that is why it is selected as of the targeted states because it is the most financially excluded state.

According him, as part of the effort to fill this gap, the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN is targeting 25,000 women and youths in the state to register for new bank account within five-day Digital Financial Inclusion.

Amadu noted that five local government areas of the state with no presence of financial institutions were targeted for the exercise

While making his remarks, the state governor Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru who was represented by his deputy Alhaji Umar Namadi appealed for CBN to expand the five day of digital financial inclusion registration to enable more people have bank account.

The governor, explained that the drive is critical to economic development as financial inclusion benefits economies as well as individuals.

“This allows appreciate policies and interventions to be deployed for the economic growth”.the governor said.
