Environmental Pollution to Become History, as Kano Govt. Set to Safeguard Citizens

Kano State Consumer Protection Council will work hand in hand with the ministry of environment towards fighting environmental POLUTION in the state.

The Managing Director of the council General Idris Bello Danbazau Retired disclosed the statement when he paid a visit to the Commissioner of Environment in his office.

This was contained in a statement issued to PRIME TIME NEWS on Thursday and signed by Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, the KSCPC’s Information Officer.

General Danbazau says, the visit is obvious because of the problem of environmental polution particularly from industries.

“This is what necessitate the need for him to work together with the ministry in order to ensure the protection of Kano populace from the hazards of environmental polution and thereby assisting the government in attaining one of the objectives of enhancing the living standard of the people.”

“The law establishing this council clearly stated that the ministry of environment is one of the stakeholder ministries which this council has to work with in order to achieve its objectives.” says Danbazau.

He added that “that is why I felt it very necessary that the ministry of environment should be one of the first ministry that I pay courtesy visit in order to establish or emphasize on the already existing working relationship with this council.”

He thanked the commissioner and his management staff for making up time and granting him previledge to pay the visit.

Responding, the commissioner of Kano State Ministry of Environment Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso welcomed the Managing Director and his entourage and also congratulated him for his well deserved appointment.

Dr Kabiru Getso said consumer protection council is a very important agency in Kano State because it is overseeing what the good people of Kano are going to consume in order to protect their health.

He said alot of problems and challenges have been seeing with consumable items in the state as a result of activities of some unpatriotic and unscrupulous individuals “and I believed with the experience, knowledge and Calibre of the new managing director, he is going to turn around this council and alot of success is going to be achieved.

The commissioner emphasized that ministry of environment is a major stakeholder in the activities of consumer protection council because it has alot of activities especially in the area of environmental polution, things that has to do with air, land and water polution.

He said the ministry has been undertaking alot of activities to ensure that environmentl is protected and safeguarded for the welbeing of the good people of the state.

Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso said the ministry has a polution control laboratory which is going to be very useful to the council and the laboratory has been upgraded recently through the support of NEWMAP, so it is now capable to undertake so many laboratory tests. The laboratory has the capacity to test all the three states of matter, gasses, liquids and solids, like soik food substance and so on.

“I want to enjoin consumer protection council to fully utilize this laboratory because it is going to support the good work that the council is doing.” he appeled.

The commissioner then assured that the ministry of environment is fully ready to continue partnering with consumer protection council and any support that is needed from the ministry, the ministry is ready to give that support.
