Factcheck: Did American Rapper Cardi B, Invite Portable To Her Private Residence For A Collection Talk?

 After analyzing all available Internet posts and reports, the claim that Cardi B initiated a phone call through to Portable showing her interest in collaborating with him in a song is….

The Claim

A Facebook account “Mariat Zak Saintbb”, among other social media accounts like “@addullayofel” and “@the_tech_writer on X had claimed that the Dominican/American Rapper Cardi B had put a phone call through to the Nigeria artist Portable showing her interest in his song and inviting him to come to her private residence in the US to talk about the possibility of a musical collaboration.

The Facebook post has gained over nine thousand likes, seven hundred and fifty seven comments and fifty six shares as at the time of this report.

Portable

Portable as he is widely called is a native of Ogun state in the South West Nigeria. He was born Habeeb Okikiola, though many of his fans refer to him as the son of grace due to how he quickly rose to stardom. Portable is also called Mr. Zeh, and Zazu.

These are names he acclaimed from his popular songs.

Our Check

In a bid to verify the claim, the reporter first made a quick Google search to see other credible media outlets that published the same story. The reporter found out that no credible media organization published the story.

Then, the reporter went to the Instagram and X pages of both Cardi B and Portable for collaborative evidence on the story. But none was found.

Also, an in-depth scrutiny was made to the text posted to be the transcribed phone conversation of Cardi B to Portable.

Despite the fact that the text was copied and pasted on each social media page that carried the story, the text raised questions as to who could have transcribed the phone conversation and shared the details of the phone call as neither Portable nor Cardi B had posted about it on social media since the story broke out.

“Hello portable, hope you’re doing great. I’ve been a silent follower of yours since you dropped your first music and I must say you’ve really evolved to an even outstanding artist since then. Just want to let you know that it’s about time for us to jump on a track.

I already got DJ Khaled and he made a good beat. Will send it to your IG. Let’s do this one for Africa. If it doesn’t bother you, I will really appreciate it if you come to my place in the US so we can talk further.

After analyzing the available data, the claim stating that Cardi B initiated a phone call to Portable inviting him to her private residence in the US for a musical collaboration is UNSUBSTANTIATED
