Fire guts another market in Maiduguri

Another market in Maiduguri, the Gamboru Market, has been ravaged by fire, just three weeks after the Monday Market, the largest market in the state, was completely destroyed.

The fire, which reportedly started at about 3 pm local time, razed parts of the market, particularly the cooking oil section.

This incident forced locals who were still voting to abandon their polling units and rush to the burning market. Gamboru market is situated around the Customs area of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital in Northeast Nigeria.

In another development, a fire incident was reported in Biu town, in the southern part of Borno state, where a portion where timbers are sold was completely razed.
