Fiscal Responsibility Commission Awards Gov Ganduje For Excellence In Good Governance, Prudent Regime

– As Kano Fiscal Responsibility body in the pipeline

Fiscal Responsibility Commission identified governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as a leader whose effort in fiscal responsibility, accountability, transparency and prudent management of resources and good governance should not be left unnoticed.

This is contained in a statement signed and issued to a newsmen by Abba Anwar,Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kano State.

During a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the Commission, to the governor, at Government House, Barrister Victor Muruako, Monday, he encouraged that, “We need to appreciate your effort in anti corruption drive. That is why we are honouring you with this exceptional Award of Excellence.”

They are in Kano for a Fiscal Transparency and Accountability Sensitisation Workshop, scheduled for two days for state and non-state actors, with some selected federal government agencies from North West states.

“Our Commission is an Anti-Corruption Agency, we all noticed that you are putting special effort in promoting good governance,” he said.

Explaining that “We are permitted by our Act to ensure prudence in government spending, particularly federal government. We have been observing your work Sir, you are doing very well.”

Adding that, it was not in the character of the Commission to praise political office holders, “…but we are still encouraging you to keep it up and do more. It is very clear for all to see that Kano has taken a bold step in anti corruption effort.”

The Chairman appreciated the peaceful atmosphere of the state. He also appreciated the state infrastructural development. Hinting that, governor Ganduje is spending well for the development of the state.

In his response, governor Ganduje commended the choice of Kano for the programme, adding that, “We thank you for promoting fiscal responsibility in our dear country. I am delighted to inform you that our State Anti-Corruption Commission is very effective.”

“We already have a Fiscal Responsibility Bill in the pipeline, at the State House of Assembly. And when we are through with it we must have a synergy with your Commission,” he said.

Adding that, “We are going to have homogeneous implementation of the drive together.”
