Food Security: President Tinubu Approves Expansion Of 12 River Basins

President Bola Tinubu has approved the expansion of 12 River Basin projects as part of his administration’s efforts to tackle hunger and starvation in the country.

The Director Finance,Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano on Saturday.

Kwankwaso said that the approval for the projects would boost food production as well as arrest hunger and starvation in the country.

He commended the Chairman House Committee on Appropriation, Alhaji Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, who ensured that the budget for the revitalization of the River Basins was approved.

With this gesture he said, President Tinubu’s commitment to the development of agriculture in Northern Nigeria is no longer in doubt.

The director of finance explained further that the realization of the River Basin’s would boost irrigation farming towards making Nigeria self sufficient in food production.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership in also allocating 150 billion Naira in the 2025 Appropriation bill for the construction of a railway line in Kano City,” he said.

According to him, the project will revolutionize transportation, enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, and boost economic growth in the city.

He said that the railway line would also improve the quality of life of residents of Kano and position the city as a hub for commerce and industry.

“President Tinubu’s administration has demonstrated a clear focus on infrastructure development, evident in the 2025 budget’s emphasis on revitalizing hospitals and investing in healthcare infrastructure.

“We acknowledge President Tinubu’s efforts to stimulate economic recovery and growth, as reflected in the 2025 budget’s projections, including another allocation of Billions of Naira for the revitalization of over 12 Dams for Irrigation Farming,”Kwankwaso added.

“We also appreciate the efforts of Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, representing the Bichi Federal constituency, in bringing developmental projects to the area, additionally, we recognize the Chairman House Committee on Appropriation Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi contributions to the nation’s growth and stability.

“Once again, we express our deepest gratitude to President Tinubu for this groundbreaking initiative and look forward to witnessing its transformative impact on Kano city and its people,” he added.
