Foundation Donates 600 Bags of Rice to Christians in Gombe

From Abubakar Rabilu, Gombe

The Velocity Humanitarian Foundation has donated 600 bags of 25kg rice to the Christian community in Gombe State to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The donation, which was presented to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Gombe State Chapter, took place at the CAN Secretariat in Gombe.

Presenting the items on behalf of the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Engineer Aliyu Muhammad Kombat, the Foundation’s Chairman, Adamu Aliyu Ibrahim, said the gesture was aimed at sharing love and promoting peaceful coexistence during the yuletide season.

“We are here to rejoice with our Christian brothers and sisters,” Ibrahim said. “The founder of the Velocity Humanitarian Foundation, Engineer Aliyu Muhammad Kombat, deemed it necessary to identify with the Christian faithful during this festive period by sharing what God has blessed him with.”

He explained that the foundation presented 600 bags of 25kg rice, stressing that the initiative was part of the foundation’s commitment to humanitarian service and interfaith harmony in Gombe State.

According to him, although the foundation is relatively new, it has already begun extending its support to different segments of society.

“This is the year the foundation formally commenced operations, and it is our desire to continue supporting both Muslims and Christians, especially the less privileged,” he added.

Responding, the Chairman of CAN in Gombe State, Reverend Father Joseph Alphonse Shinga, expressed profound gratitude to the foundation and its founder for the timely intervention.

“We are deeply grateful for this kind gesture,” Reverend Shinga said. “Engineer Aliyu Muhammad Kombat has truly brought joy to our Christmas celebration. We pray that God will continue to bless him, his family, and all his endeavours.”

He also called on beneficiaries of the donation to pray for peace in Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

Reverend Shinga further appealed to other wealthy individuals and organisations to emulate the foundation’s example by supporting the less privileged, especially during difficult economic times.

“This is a period when many families are struggling. Those whom God has blessed should always remember the poor and vulnerable in society,” he said.

Speaking on the current economic hardship, the cleric acknowledged that many Nigerians are facing challenges but urged citizens not to lose hope.

“These are difficult times, but we are managing and encouraging our people to remain hopeful. We believe that with prayers and perseverance, things will get better for our country,” he stated.

He also advised youths to celebrate the festive season responsibly, urging them to shun immoral behaviour and conduct themselves in line with Christian values.
