Foundation Trains 1,500 Youths, Women in Different Vocations in Kabo
A non-governmental organization, Better Life for Children and Women Future Foundation (BLCWFF), on Thursday mpowered no fewer than 1,500 youths in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State in relevant vocational skills.
Also, the Foundation provided the trainees with tool kits and cash to enable them quickly their own businesses, with a view to boosting their productive capacity.
The President, Founder and National Coordinator of the Foundation, Ambassador Dr. Samira Abubakar Abdullahi, disclosed this today at a graduation ceremony for the beneficiaries.
In her welcoming address, the President emphasized that, ever since its inception in 2021, the foundation has been focusing on boosting and improving the lives of women, youths and children by equipping them with the relevant skills to thrive in this ever challenging economic environment.
According to her, despite the funding constraints coupled with economic hardships, the foundation remains resolute and committed to discharging its mandate to target population in respective of ethnic or religious affiliations.
A total of two hundred and fifty participants were trained on painting and painting production, two hundred and fifty on fish and chicken feeds, two hundred and fifty females on seasoning powder production, two hundred and fifty females on home and garden production, two hundred and fifty female participants on detergent and liquid soap production, and finally two hundred and fifty female participants on perfume production.
While felicitating the beneficiaries of the program, she enjoined them to use the skills they acquired in developing themselves financially while at the same time contributing the overall economic development of their communities.
“Today has been a remarkable day for us as we witness the graduation of this cohort under our economic empowerment program. I therefore, seize this opportunity to call on the beneficiaries to adequately utilize their knowledge, skills and expertise gained during the training program in becoming financially independent.
“These skills , when properly utilized, have the capacity to guarantee your means of livelihood and extend the same to members of your immediate communities,” She said.
Ambassador Samira Abubakar also tasked the new entrants to pay attention and gather their thoughts as they delve into the journey of economy and financial independence.
She said: “You should pay proper attention to every detail while undergoing this training so as not to undermine the goals and objectives of the exercise. You must excel just like your colleagues who graduated today.”
While making his remarks, the caretaker chairman of Kabo Local Government Area, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Wari appreciated the foundation for such gesture, while also promising to partner with it in empowering women and youth.
According to him, the dividends of this remarkable milestone will continue to have impacts on the society for the younger and upcoming generations.
“When you teach people skills on how to fend for themselves in this harsh economic situation, you are certainly building the entire society.” Adamu Aliyu Wari said.
While reviewing some of their achievements, a senior director of the Foundation, Alhaji Bashir Bataiya, revealed that the organization has conducted many charitable activities within and outside Kano state aimed at improving the lives of youths and women as well as the vulnerable in society.
“Prior to this, we have conducted several skills and acquisition programs in Kabo Local Government Area, LGA, in Kano as well as Zaria LGA in Kaduna State.
“It will surprise you to learn that all these funds were sourced internally by the founder without support from the government or any organization.” He added.
He therefore called on the government, wealthy individuals, philanthropists and other stakeholders to help in supporting their cause aimed at achieving the mandates of the foundation.
