Gov Ganduje Appoints Former Kano ALGON Boss, Lamin, Special Adviser, LGs, Chieftaincy Affairs

Former Chairman of Nassarawa local government and former Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Kano state branch, from 2018 to 2021, Lamin Sani Zawiya, has been appointed by governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs.

This is contained in a statement signed by Abba Anwar,Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kano State on Tuesday.

The appointment is with effect from 2nd November, 2021, as the appointment letter reads “In accordance with the powers conferred on me by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is my pleasure to notify you of my decision to appoint you as Special Adviser on Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs…with effect from 2nd November, 2021.”

Valuing the appointment, he said, “Your appointment into such exalted position of trust and confidence was made upon careful assessment of your credentials, excellent record of performance, hard work, integrity, patriotic disposition, demonstrated loyalty and commitment to the socio-economic wellbeing of the populace.”

Zawiya is a holder of Masters Degree in Banking and Finance, Postgraduate Diploma in Banking and Finance and Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance, among other qualifications.

He was the Chairman of ALGON Kano state branch from 2018 to 2021, he is a member of Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria (CILRMN) and ALGON Northwest Ex-officio, among other positions.

The newly appointed Special Adviser received many Awards and commendations from many quarters. He received letters of commendation from Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Kano State House of Assembly and he received an Award of Best Local Government Chairman in Kano state from Senate Committee on State and Local Governments.

Other Awards are that of second Best Local Government Chairman in Northwest from Senate Committee on State and Local Governments, he received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from European American University in 2016 and Honorary Award from World Assembly of Youth, in Tirana, Albania.

Governor Ganduje urged him to work diligently and prove his mettle as he did before. Adding that, “Being the first such position in the state, you should work hard to set pace for the overall development of both local governments and state government.”

“You should also try your best to observe global best practice by complying with the use of information communication technology (ICT) in you engagements. Yours should always be IT-based,” he directed.
