Plateau State Governor, and Chairman Northern Governers forum, Rt Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has commended the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for fostering harmonious relationships among diverse segments of the country.
Governor Lalong made the commendation at the North Central zone Citizens Summit for National Intergretion Peace, and Security, organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Jos on Tuesday.
Represent by his Deputy, Professor Sonnie Tyoden, the governor, the government is particularly happy with their responsibilities in terms of social reengineering through advocacy.
In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, who is also the Director General of Industrial Training Fund, (ITF) Sir, Joseph Ari, KSM, described the theme of the forum – “Reopen Conversation, Rebuild Trust” as timely and germane, as it provides peoples divers interests that are widely represented at the program to freely air their views in order to chart a new course for a dear country and stem the waning unity as its effects are too considerable and consequential to be ignored.
According to him, ” Beyond the needless deaths and destruction we witness across the country daily, Nations that are riven and beset by the challenges we face today cannot witness growth as unity is the pedestal to all development and finding our rightful place among the comity of Nations”
He however believe that with the Calibre of participants at the summit,a meaningful Resolutions that will help rebuild trust and open conversations among Nigerians towards the betterment of the country would be reached.
In his address, President/ Chairman of Governing Council, NIPR Mallam Mukhtar Zubauru Sirajo, said Nigeria is a blessed country and the biggest is diversity as a pillar of progress and development.
The summit he added is to lay foundation of solving the problem of the country by taking it back to it’s former glory of peaceful coexistence.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Chairman, North Central zone, NIPR Citizens submit, Barr. Haroun Audu, disclosed that the program is first of its kind and would be a continuous process to the development of the country and sustainable development.
Highlights of the occasion was a presentation of award to the State Governor, Simon Lalong, dance drama by the Plateau State cultural troupe on peaceful coexistence. There were also dignitaries from diverse cultures, students and Academia’s.
