Gov. Uba Sani Commended for Capacity Building Initiatives
Kaduna State continues to distinguish itself as a leader in civil service reforms, with other states regularly sending delegations to understudy its operations, particularly in the areas of governance and accountability.
This reputation was reinforced during a two-day capacity-building workshop organized by the Office of the Head of Service and the Principal Private Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, held from December 4 to 5.
A communiqué issued at the end of the workshop emphasized the adherence of Kaduna State Public Service to established regulatory frameworks, including the Scheme of Service, Stores Regulations, Guide to Administrative Procedures, and Financial Instructions.
It also recommended the production and affordable distribution of these regulatory books to public servants by the Department of Printing Services to enhance compliance and efficiency.
Participants at the workshop commended the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Senator Uba Sani for prioritizing capacity building. They described the training as unprecedented and praised the Governor’s inclusive leadership style, commitment to pro-people policies, focus on workers’ welfare, and emphasis on continuous professional development. They urged the government to extend similar workshops to all categories of civil servants to sustain the momentum of reform and improve governance.
The workshop featured presentations by academics, technocrats, bureaucrats, and senior government officials on various topics, followed by interactive sessions. Discussions underscored Kaduna State’s leadership in governance reforms, particularly its robust procurement laws, which align with international best practices, and gender-responsive policies.
The state is one of the few in Nigeria, alongside Lagos, to implement measures that waive procurement registration fees for women-owned businesses and reduce tender fees to promote inclusivity and economic empowerment.
The communiqué also addressed issues of professionalism and conduct. It advised political appointees to exercise caution on social media, warning that irresponsible posts could be misinterpreted as government positions, causing reputational harm.
Public servants were reminded to uphold discipline, loyalty, courtesy, and honesty in their official duties, while strictly adhering to procedural guidelines to prevent systemic decay and corruption.
Employees of Government House were particularly urged to enhance their communication skills to effectively represent the administration and articulate its policies.
The workshop emphasized the importance of integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into service delivery while maintaining adherence to procedural requirements for managing and documenting government activities.
Participants were encouraged to rededicate themselves to the actualization of Governor Uba Sani’s SUSTAIN Agenda, which aims to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Kaduna State.
