Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State met with the National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribado at the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja on the 30th of May, 2024.
This was contained in a statement signed by Sanusi Bature, Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano on Thursday.
According to the statement, the meeting, which lasted over an hour, was in response to recent events in Kano following the dissolution of five emirates by the Kano State House of Assembly and the subsequent restoration of Emir Muhammad Sanusi II by the Governor.
The statement explained that the two leaders also discussed various issues related to state and national development, as well as the peaceful coexistence of the nation.
“It was a fruitful discussion between myself and the National Security Adviser, his role is critical for the harmonious existence of our nation, so I briefed him on the recent developments in Kano,” he said.
Recall that the NSA, Malam Nuhu Ribado, had faced accusations of involvement in the Kano crisis due to a substantial military presence that protected the removed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero.
These allegations were swiftly discredited by the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Prior to this, Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, had apologized to the NSA for implicating him in the crisis, attributing the error to flawed intelligence.
