Two northern civil society organisations, the Northern Accountability League (NAL) and the Uba Sani Legacy Projects Solidarity Assembly (ULEPSA), have noted the implementation of multiple road construction projects in Kaduna State under Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
At a joint press conference held at Arewa House in Kaduna on Monday, the groups acknowledged the state’s investment in road infrastructure, stating that over 78 road projects covering 775 kilometres have been initiated within the last two years.
“Twelve key urban roads have already been completed and commissioned,” said Mallam Yusuf Ibrahim, Convener of the Northern Accountability League. He listed projects such as the Garba Ja Abdulkadir Road, Water Intake Road, Sultan-Surame Road, Bissau Road, and several township roads in Unguwan Muazu and Kawo Layout.
Khadija Mohammed of ULEPSA added that rural communities have also benefited from the infrastructure efforts, mentioning roads like the 21.7km Anchau–Gadas–Palla Road, 18km Sanga–Jema’a Road, 10.2km Dan Makwarwa–Hunkuyi Road, and the 35km Gadan Gayan–Gwaraji–Kujama Junction Road.
Other projects include the 21km Kasuwan Magani–Wusar–Gwaraji Road, as well as road constructions in Soba, Igabi, Chikun, and Kajuru local government areas.
The groups called on the federal government and international partners to support ongoing infrastructure development efforts in the state.
The press conference ended with an appeal for stakeholders across the country to prioritise infrastructure as a means of enhancing development and connectivity.
