The Gbenga Support Organization (GSO) on Friday convened a high-level strategic meeting with its 44 Local Government Coordinators in Kano State, consolidating its grassroots architecture as part of a carefully sequenced nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The meeting, held in the ancient city of Kano, brought together coordinators from across the state to review strategy, deepen community engagement, and align messaging around the presidential aspiration of His Excellency, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing the gathering, the Convener of GSO, Mallam Khalifa Muhammad, conveyed the heartfelt appreciation of Dr. Olawepo-Hashim to the coordinators for what he described as their “discipline, loyalty, and quiet but effective work at the grassroots.” He noted that the strength of any serious national movement lies not in slogans, but in organisation, trust, and sustained engagement with ordinary citizens.
Mallam Khalifa explained that Dr. Olawepo-Hashim’s decision to seek the presidency is informed by a deep sense of responsibility to the country at a moment of national strain. He cited worsening economic hardship, persistent insecurity, institutional weaknesses, and the growing frustration of young Nigerians as challenges that demand experienced, courageous, and reform-minded leadership.
Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim is a seasoned statesman, businessman, and democracy advocate whose public life spans decades. A former student activist and pro-democracy campaigner, he played an active role in Nigeria’s struggle against military rule and has remained a consistent voice for democratic governance, national unity, and economic justice. With extensive experience in the private sector and international engagement, he has built a reputation as a bridge-builder—across regions, faiths, and generations—who understands both the mechanics of power and the realities of everyday Nigerians.
According to Mallam Khalifa, Dr. Olawepo-Hashim’s ambition is anchored on a clear vision: rebuilding the Nigerian economy through productivity and investment; confronting corruption by strengthening institutions rather than personalities; restoring security through intelligence-driven and community-based approaches; and deliberately expanding opportunities for young people through education, skills development, and enterprise.
“This project is not about power for its own sake,” Mallam Khalifa said. “It is about restoring hope, competence, and credibility to leadership, and re-establishing a social contract that works for all Nigerians—North and South, young and old.”
He commended the Kano coordinators for their effectiveness in community mobilisation, stakeholder outreach, and political education across all local government areas, noting that their efforts have helped translate national ideas into local conversations that resonate with people’s lived experiences.
In their collective response, the 44 Local Government Coordinators reaffirmed their loyalty to the GSO and pledged their full commitment to advancing Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim’s vision. They described the movement as inclusive, issue-driven, and rooted in the everyday concerns of citizens, expressing confidence that it represents a credible pathway to a more united, stable, and prosperous Nigeria.
The meeting concluded with a renewed resolve to intensify grassroots engagement across Kano State as part of a broader national strategy to build consensus, mobilise support, and present Nigerians with a compelling leadership alternative in 2027.
