A group of youths popularly known as Jigawa Youths Agenda in collaboration with ‘vote not foght’ has commended Jigawa citizens for peaceful conduct of Gubernatorial and state Assembly elections in the state.
The commendation was made by the chief convener of the group comrade Musbahu Basirka during a press conference held at Dutse the state capital.
He explained that, the group set up a situation room where reports for the conduct of Gubernatorial and state Assembly election received through 326 observers and volunteers across the state.
According to him, from the reports received, it was observed that Jigawa people conducted the election in peace with minimal violence with full cooperation to both INEC and securities.
Comrade Basirka who also commended INEC said, the election commenced on time, with less delay in distribution of election materials without shortage of sensitive materials as recorded during the last presidential election.
He said, the group observed that the gubernatorial and state Assembly election in Jigawa recorded high turn out of voters and professional control of crowds by the security agencies.
The group then recommended that, INEC and security agencies should sustain the tempo, urging the political parties and and electorates to avoid anything act that could cause violences before during and after the election period particularly with order given by the state governor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru of no celebration rallies after announcement of the results.
