…As Hon. Kabiru Amadu Expresses Confidence in Super Eagles Ahead of AFCON Double-Header Qualifiers
The newly appointed Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, has called on the Super Eagles to aim for a full six points in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) double-header qualifiers against Libya.
The Super Eagles are set to face the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in the third match of the qualifiers on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. The reverse fixture will take place next Tuesday in Benghazi, Libya.
Speaking on the upcoming fixtures, Honourable Amadu, who represents the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, expressed confidence in the abilities of the Nigerian team to secure victory in both matches. He noted that the Super Eagles have the necessary qualities to achieve the desired results and urged them to demonstrate their capabilities on the pitch.
“I have no doubt that the boys will make us proud against Libya, especially given their performances in the last round of matches,” the lawmaker stated. “I was impressed with what I saw during their game against Benin Republic in Uyo, and their display against Rwanda in Kigali was commendable, despite the draw.”
He further encouraged the team to build on their previous performances and deliver an exceptional showing in the upcoming fixtures.
“I expect them to step up their performance this Friday and continue from where they left off in the last round of games. I also want the players to know that, as lawmakers, the National Assembly is fully behind them, and the Speaker of the House, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, is rooting for them to make Nigerians proud.”
Nigeria currently leads Group D of the Africa Cup of Nations qualification table with four points from two matches, ahead of Friday’s crucial encounter against Libya.
