Housing Minister Dangiwa Inaugurates 250-Housing Unit Renewed Hope Estate In Sokoto

The event, graced by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Alh. Ahmad Aliyu, witnessed the commencement of a development that includes 50 units of 1-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 150 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 50 units of 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.
The housing units are designed with organic structures to allow for future expansion as beneficiaries’ incomes grow, making them adaptable to changing financial circumstances and family sizes.
In his address, Minister Dangiwa emphasized the importance of quality construction and timely delivery, urging the developers—Messrs. Jewel Construction and Engineering Services, Abidcas Global Ventures Ltd, LY Construction and General Enterprises Ltd, and ThreeMPlus Integrated Services Ltd—to adhere strictly to the specified standards.
He also highlighted the diverse options available for homeownership, including single-digit mortgage loans repayable over 30 years, rent-to-own schemes provided by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, and outright purchase options.
This groundbreaking is part of the broader Nationwide Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in February with the inauguration of a 3,112-housing unit project in Karsana, Abuja.
Phase One of this ambitious programme aims to deliver 50,000 housing units across Nigeria, enhancing urban development and economic growth.
Minister Dangiwa underscored the economic benefits of the project, stating, “Statistics show that the construction of one housing unit creates an average of 25 direct and indirect jobs.
For these 250 housing units, we anticipate creating over 6,500 jobs across various trades, from architects to electricians, thereby stimulating local economies.
“Currently, Renewed Hope Estates are under construction in 12 states, and Renewed Hope Cities in three, including notable projects in Katsina, Yobe, Gombe, and more.”
The Sokoto estate is part of the first leg of a series of groundbreaking ceremonies in Northern Nigeria, covering five states and totaling 1,500 housing units.
Minister Dangiwa expressed gratitude to the Sokoto State Government for providing land at no cost, significantly reducing the housing units’ cost by 30%, thus enhancing affordability for potential homeowners.
He reiterated the federal government’s commitment to delivering on its promises and ensuring that Nigerians receive value for money through responsible governance and strategic funding from the N50 billion 2023 Supplementary Budget.
In closing, Minister Dangiwa extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his vision and political will, ensuring the provision of decent and quality housing for Nigerians.
