Hundreds Dump NNPP for APC in Dawakin Kudu LG

By Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

Hundreds of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) supporters have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State.

The defectors, led by Hon. Suleiman Dalibi Yargaya (Sardaunan Matasa), were formally welcomed into the APC by the Kano State Party Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, at a political gathering held in Dawakin Kudu town.

In his remarks, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, represented by the State Party Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Zakari Sarina, expressed delight at receiving the defectors.

He stated, “The massive influx of people into the APC in Kano State is a clear testimony to the failure of the NNPP government, which came into power by accident. The good people of Kano State will not allow this government to extend beyond 2027.”

Welcoming the defectors, he urged unity among party members to “liberate Kano State from the tyranny of bad leadership that is currently disturbing our dear state.”

He added, “We must work together to achieve this goal. Let us forgive past misunderstandings and continue to build the confidence of the people in the APC’s philosophy. Our party has the answers to the social and economic challenges brought about by the self-centered leadership under the NNPP.”

In his remarks, the former member representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency, Hon. Mustapha Bala Dawakin, described the defections as encouraging. He said it was further proof that the APC would reclaim Kano State in the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Suleiman Dalibi Yargaya, former candidate for the Kano State Assembly seat for Dawakin Kudu Constituency, stated that he and over 12,000 of his political associates from all 303 polling units across the 15 political wards in Dawakin Kudu had decided to leave the NNPP for the APC.

He explained, “We initially believed that the NNPP had a clear mission to move Kano State forward. Unfortunately, nearly two years into their administration, there is nothing to show for it. Instead, they have brought disgrace, destroyed traditions, and undermined the state’s commercial heritage.”

“My associates and I cannot continue on this wrong path. We have decided to join the APC, a party of patriotic and visionary leaders who have the interests of the people, the state, and the nation at heart.”

Hon. Yargaya concluded by pledging loyalty to the APC. “As we join the APC today, we promise to be faithful members, dedicating ourselves to the growth of the party and to achieving its ultimate goal of making Kano State prosperous and great,” he said.
