Presenting the cheques to the next of kin, Commissioner Abdullahi expressed both sorrow and pride. He acknowledged the irreplaceable loss suffered by the command while highlighting the undoubting courage and dedication exhibited by the fallen heroes.

“These officers were not just colleagues; they were brothers and sisters in blue, standing shoulder to shoulder in the face of danger, safeguarding our communities with firm resolve,” stated the Commissioner.

He emphasized the selfless acts of these officers who bravely confronted threats to protect the vulnerable and sacrificed their lives for the noble pursuit of keeping the community safe.

Addressing the families directly, Commissioner Abdullahi acknowledged that the fallen heroes were more than just police officers; they were sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, husbands, and wives. He recognized the significant void their absence leaves in the lives of their loved ones.

On behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Commissioner Abdullahi conveyed the directive to issue the 24 cheques as part of the Group Life Assurance Scheme (GLAS).
