Jigawa to Clear Outstanding Court Cases in 2 Years, Seeks Support of Observatory Group – AG

From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Jigawa State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr. Abdulkadir Bello Fanini, has promised to clear all outstanding court cases within two years.

He made this promise while receiving members of the Observatory platform, comprising media and civil society organizations, at his office in Dutse.

The commissioner explained that the present administration, under Governor Malam Umar Namadi, prioritizes the administration of criminal justice law to ensure peace and stability.

He acknowledged delays in legal advice but assured that, with the governor’s support, all awaiting trial cases will be cleared within the next two years, in line with the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL).

Barr. Fanini explained that the state government has identified the challenges in the justice system and has put in place necessary machinery to address them.

He assured that his office is committed to ensuring that prosecution is carried out as defined by the ACJL.

The Attorney General urged the Observatory platform to feel free to monitor the state’s progress and offer advice and clarification to ensure full implementation and compliance with the ACJL.

He assured that his door is open to the members of the platform, adding that the state government is committed to ensuring justice and peace in Jigawa State.

“We have mapped out strategies to clear all outstanding cases within two to two and a half years, so we can focus on current cases,” Barr. Fanini said. “We seek the support and cooperation of the Observatory platform to ensure that we achieve our goal.”
