JUST IN: Resign Within 48 Hours or Face Impeachment, Rivers APC Warns Fubara

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, demanding his resignation or face impeachment by the State House of Assembly.

State APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, made the call on Monday while addressing journalists at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Okocha accused Fubara of disrespecting President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to mediate the ongoing political crisis in the state.

“As a political party, we are advising the governor to choose between two options—resign honourably or be impeached. That is the stance of the APC. He has disrespected Mr. President, and we cannot stand by and allow that,” Okocha stated.

He further claimed that the Supreme Court had validated the allegations against Fubara, providing more evidence to justify impeachment.

“The House of Assembly does not need to set up any investigative committee. The offences are clear, and the Supreme Court has even reinforced them. In fact, 48 hours is too generous—he should resign immediately,” he added.

The political crisis in Rivers State has escalated in recent months, with tensions between Fubara and key stakeholders intensifying. The governor is yet to respond to the APC’s ultimatum.
