Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo,on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday, attended the closing ceremony of a three-day intensive capacity-building training for local government officials and other relevant stakeholders in the state.
The workshop was organized by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) in collaboration with the Kano State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Held at Dawakin Kudu Local Government, the training attracted approximately 1,700 participants from all 44 local government areas of the state.
Speaking to journalists during the event, the Chairman of Kano PCACC, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, explained that the objective of the workshop was to educate stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities as leaders in their respective LGAs.
“They need to understand their boundaries and the consequences of crossing them whether in terms of penalties for wrongdoing or recognition for doing the right thing. That is what the Commission aims to achieve,” Muhuyi stated.
He further highlighted that Section 9 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law mandates the Commission to ensure that the administrative actions of all government organs, including local governments, align with established rules, regulations, and laws whether through independent initiatives, public complaints, or directives from the government.
The Chairman emphasized that indiscipline would not be tolerated in local government administration, stressing the need for mutual respect among officials at all levels to ensure effective governance.
He also expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his support to the Commission, noting that its achievements in the past year have surpassed those recorded since its inception.
“The Commission has exceeded all expectations, to the point that those engaging in corrupt practices in Kano State are now apprehensive about our work,” Muhuyi added.
He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the training to improve the quality of governance and service delivery in their respective local government areas.
