Kano Fire Service records 28 emergency response in August

Kano State Fire Service in the month of August 2023, responded to a series of emergency calls from twenty-eight fire stations across the state.

The monthly report details various incidents and serves as a reminder for the public to prioritize fire safety.

This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by spokesperson of the Kano state Fire Service Command, PFS. Saminu Yusif Abdullahi on Wednesday.

According to Saminu, the State Fire Service received a total of twelve fire calls during the month, with quick responses from their dedicated teams. Additionally, eight rescue calls were successfully addressed, highlighting the service’s commitment to saving lives.

Unfortunately, the report also noted five false alarms, emphasizing the importance of accurate reporting to avoid diverting resources from genuine emergencies.

The financial toll of the fire disasters was significant, with an estimated 10,300,000 Naira worth of properties destroyed. However, the quick response and valiant efforts of the service personnel resulted in saving properties valued at 16,700,000 Naira.

Abdullahi disclosed Ttragically, three lives were lost in various disasters during August 2023, underscoring the need for continued public awareness and safety measures.

He further urged citizens to handle fire with care and avoid using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders in vehicles and generators to prevent infernos.

Saminu also emphasized the importance of abiding by traffic laws to reduce road accidents and maintaining clear drainage to facilitate water flow during the rainy season, preventing building collapses.
